Here are a few main reasons why I love it a lot better than the Champ:
1. I'm able to throw individual wet wipes to the Diaper Genie II Elite Pail System without getting the container soiled. This comes in handy with those really, really messy BMs.
2. I can't must crank a handle back and forth like the Champ. I discovered this so appealing especially for those evening diaper changes which i eventually moved the diaper Genie to where the baby slept during the night.
3. It can a more satisfactory job of keeping the odor out. I have a really strong sense of smell and i also could smell the soiled diapers inside the room with all the Champ. I oftentimes tried regular garbage bags in the Genie so perhaps upgrading to 1 of these odor preventing garbage bags could have helped.
4. Emptying the Diaper Genie II Elite Pail System requires less maneuvering. OK ... so that you must cut and tie the refill with the Diaper Genie II Elite Pail System however i discovered that if the garbage bag got too full within the Champ, I had to actually work to have it out as the opening towards the top is smaller than average a complete garbage bag which is bottom heavy doesn't fit through it too.
Here are a few downsides:
1. Acquiring the special refills is of-course a downside but it lasts about 30 days with my 2 month old and so i believe that it is worth every penny for your 'odor-locking' ability with the special refills.
2. I could not have the top portion to interlock using the bottom half quite right. I not really know if this describes due to the way I assembled it or even the parts are only not made properly. This didn't affect the working from the product whatsoever, just the way it's and my husband never noticed it.
